Missions
The Great Commission
In Matthew 28, Jesus gives The Great Commission:
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
A former pastor of Green Meadows, Dr. Kenneth Hyde, stated it this way “As you are going, make disciples.” The Great Commission isn’t just something we live out on mission trips or in foreign countries. It is a daily decision, that as we go, we will make disciples. Missions is the heartbeat of Green Meadows, and it reflects the heartbeat of the Lord. Here at Green Meadows, you will often hear it said, “Changing the world for Christ.” This is our goal: to change the world for Christ because of the difference Christ has made in us.
Local Missions
The Baptist Men and Women on Mission of Green Meadows faithfully serve our community throughout the year.
The Baptist Men annually aid the work in Honduras through construction. They also serve in Kentucky working with other churches to build houses for needy families. In addition to building in Kentucky, donations of gently-used items are also collected to give to the needy in Kentucky.
The Women on Mission work on outreach projects all year long. Operation Christmas Child is a big focus for them every August. They pack over 100 shoe boxes each year to send to children in impoverished countries. They also work with local ministries, such as the Davie Pregnancy Care Center, collecting spare change and donating needed supplies for the mothers and babies there. The Women on Mission also help with the work in Honduras by making dolls and pillowcase dresses to give to children as well as birthing kits for the women in Honduras.
As a church, we also collect donations for a Storehouse for Jesus which serves needy families in Davie County. We’ve collected food, gently-used clothing, and even toilet paper to give to the Storehouse.
